My seven year old son, Andrew, the one who has a ridiculous tendency to become over obsessed with technology, has moved on to better pasttimes. Like his sister he just discovered the joy of reading. I honestly cannot contribute this more than to a random trip to our small town library. The library is the treasure of my town and one of my favorite aspects of the burbs.
As we wondered through the children's section last week, I did my usual frenetic pulling of books off the shelves. Looking for that winner... We left the library with four full bags of books. One in particular had caught Andrew's eye.
He comes home from school and reads rather than playing the wii. That says a lot.
He chooses to read in bed in the morning as soon as he wakes. That says even more!
Thank you Jeff Smith for creating such wonderful graphic novels. The mystique, suspense, humor and wonderful illustrations are perfect for young boys. My son has fully immersed himself in the story of the Bone cousins. He is relishing his entry into a new world of drama, tales and countless adventures.
